Gil Bennet Rocks and Minerals Collection

The Gil Bennet Rocks and Minerals Collection is the work of Tamworth local, the late Gilmore (Gil) Thomas Bennett who spent years collecting the unique and wondrous selection of fine stone and rock. The rocks, gems and minerals on display represent the finest specimens of his extensive collection assembled over more than 20 years. As a dedicated collector, Gil travelled extensively and frequently over Australia earning the respect of lapidarists nationwide, while his collection was highly regarded by museum curators in many states.

Opening hours


Five days a week during Nundle Library opening hours: Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday 10:30am-2:30pm, and Wednesday 2-6pm.
