Winter School Holidays

Layer up with beanies, gloves, scarves and coats for the winter school holidays at Nundle and Hanging Rock. The mornings and evenings can be fresh, but the days can be blue skies and perfect for activity. Watch the weather forecasts for predictions of snow. It’s a beautiful time of year to spend time with family and friends exploring our beautiful Nundle and Hanging Rock and the surrounding countryside:

1. Choose accommodation from cabins, campsites, or rooms at the pub, motel or guest house.
2. Book tables at The Peel Inn or Arc-en-ciel Trout Farm, or call in to Mount Misery Gold Mine Cafe, Cafe Nundle, Machina Coffee and Donuts, and Nundle Bowling Club (Saturday nights).
3. Try locally grown beef and lamb from Crawney’s Hills to Grills, trout products from Arc-en-ciel Trout Farm and homemade goods at Nundle Craft, and Oakenville Essence. Visit The Peel Inn Farmers Market on Sunday, 13th July.
4. Support local retail stores including Nundle Friendly Grocer, Nundle Woollen Mill (daily tours), Oakenville Essence, Blissful Soul Connection, Odgers and McClelland Exchange Stores, Jenkins Street Antiques and Fine China, Van Zalm Designs, Old Church Boutique, and Nundle Craft (check socials and websites for opening hours).
5. Enjoy the magnificent vista across the Upper Peel Valley from Hanging Rock Lookout.
6. Visit the Gil Bennet Rock and Mineral Collection at its new home at Nundle Library (open five days a week during library hours).
7. Join in School Holiday Activities at Nundle Library at 11am on Monday 7th and 14th July.
8. Walk through the recreated gold mine at Mount Misery Gold Mine Museum or learn about local heritage at the volunteer run Nundle Court House Museum (open Sundays).
9. Warm up the body playing at Nundle’s wool themed playground, featuring knitting needle swings and a miniature shearing shed, walk or ride the Riverside Walking path, kick a ball on Nundle Recreation Ground, or have a hit of tennis on the Nundle Tennis Courts.
10. Follow the walking trail around Sheba Dams and make a campfire to toast marshmallows.
